Noise 'up seven-fold'
SYDNEY: Teaching time at
schools under the flight path of
Sydney Airport would be cut by a
third by noise problems, according
to a report issued yesterday.
The report, by the Metropolitan
East Regional Council of Parents
and Citizens Associations, found
there had been an estimated seven
fold increase in aircraft noise dis
turbances in recent months.
The council said these rises
might reducc effective teaching
time by up to one term a year.
"We, as parents, find this to be
an unacceptable penalty for our
children," the report said.
