Board profits rose by slight
more than $6,000 to
$197,617, making it the
fourth largest recipient in
the NSW country area this
year.
The TAB on Monday an
nounced a profit of $27.9 mil
lion, an increase of $3.5 mil
lion on the previous financial
year.
NSW galloping clubs re
ceived a 14.4 per cent increase
in their allocation.
The QRC's secretary, Frank
Nash, said yesterday the
club's allocation was what had
been expected and that he
expected the present season
would see a continuation of
steady growth.
He said he expected the
committee would look closely
at the reintroduction of trav
elling rebates and, possibly,
the reintroduction of mini
mum prizemoney to unplaced
runners.
The biggest increase in TAB
allocation was that of the II
lawarra Turf Club Ltd which,
like Queanbeyan, is controlled
by the South East Racing
Association
The club staged 33 meetings
at the Kembla Grange track,
an increase of five on the
previous season, increased
prizemoney substantially and
recorded a jump of S2.3 mil
lion in betting turnover.
