SPALDING.
April 9.—A rather unfortunate accident
occurred' midway between Spalding and
Gulnare^ near tie Btmdaleer Reservoir
this morning. The pair of horses -driven
in the mail coach, which was on its way
to Gulnare from Spalding, bolted down
an incline and became unmanageable.
Very eoon,the pole broke;, and after tra
velling some'distance the vehicle etruck
a corner post and was much damaged.
One of- tiie passengers, Mr. Ilewelyn,
had previously jumped out, hoping, to
reach the horses' heads, bat the other
occupants of the vehicle were thrown out
and received injuries more or less seri
ous. The only lady in the vehicle, Hie.
Jones,'wise severely shaken, but her little
child escaped with a. nasty cut on the
face. The driver, Mr. C. Clark, had an
elbow dislocated, and Mr. H. McQueen,
an elderly gentleman, is suffering from
a. dislocated shoulder. Fortunately they
were near the homestead of Mr. Bice, the
caretaker of the Bundaleer Reservoir, and
lie and Mis. Rice rendered what assist
ance they conld to the injured until the
arrival of Dr. Aitkeri frdm Jamestown.
