Network 28: Begins coverage
from the national tally-room at
the National Exhibition Centre
with segments at the beginning
and end of the 6.30pm news.
Fifteen-minute broadcasts at
7.30pm, 8.30pm. 9.30pm and
10.15pm by a panel including
journalists Mungo McCallum
and David Barnett. Host: Den
nis Grant, the channel's Can
berra bureau chief.
There will be reports from
Melbourne with the Prime
Minister, Mr Hawke, at the Re
gent Hotel; the leader of the
Opposition, Mr Peacock, at the
Southern Cross Hotel and the
Deputy Leader of the Opposi
tion, Mr Howard. Also in
terviews with political ob
servers at the tallyroom.
ABC 3: Evening news has
been moved forward an hour to
6pm. Coverage from the tally
room from 6.20pm to 9pm,
more commentary at 10pm and
a final wrap-up after the late
movie.
Comments and analysis by
two panels including announcer
Richard Morccroft, political
correspondent Barrie Cassidy,
election analyst Dr Victor Pre
scott, Chris Clark, Gcraldine
Doogue, the Attorney-General,
Senator Evans, Mr Steele Hall
and Senator Colin Mason.
Thcic will also be reports
from Melbourne with Mr
Hawke, Mr Peacock and Mr
Howard.
Simultaneous telecast to all
States.

2CN: Joint-coverage by ABC
news and ABC public-affairs
teams in the tally-room and
throughout Australia from 6 to
10pm. Summaries will be on
the hour with Slate coverage on
the half-hour. The ACT will be
included in NSW reports.
