PACING
Syndicate wants
Shanegarry win
The Shanegarry syndicate is keen to
win Sunday's Frank Marryat Memo
rial event over 2,500m at the Can
berra Paceway.
The $1,500 feature event at the
Canberra Trotting Club's meeting has
drawn a strong field of 16 free-for-all
pacers.
Syndicate manager Greg Mann said
yesterday, "The late Frank Marryat
was a great supporter of the Canberra
club, and of sport in the district, as
well as being one of the original mem
bers of the group that races
Shanegarry.
"We think it would be great to win
the memorial race with a horse that
Frank thought so much of."
Shancgarry looks like being right
back to the form that enabled him to
run such a close second to Bunda
noon in the rcccnt Canberra Cup.
Shancgarry raced below his best
after the Cup, in spite of breaking
through for a win for Queanbeyan
trainer-driver Paul Phillips.
The former top pacer is now being
prepared by Dennis Wilson at
Menangle Park.
