Energy was high as fourteen local body-builders met at
the Canberra Labor Club to compcte for titles in this
year's 1FBB Canberra Body-Building Classic yesterday.
As competitors flexed and posed to a music beat judges
compared each physique todetcrmine 1990's winner.
The competition involves three main divisions: teen
age, novice and open novice, with contenders as young as
17.
Ultimately judges look for the body-builder with the
most muscular physique.
The winner of the teenage category was Jamie *
Schcjnin, 17, of Stirling.
In the novice, first was Sam Ricotta 24, of Cook, and in
the open it was Bill Gibbs, GrcgHinton, Sam Ricotta and
Jaimcy Costin, who won their weight subdivisions.
To compcte body builders must train hard and follow
a strict diet, mostly of high-protein foods.
The winner of two titles, Sam Ricotta, has trained with
heavy weights for 2Vi years. His ambition was "to win the
novice this year and go to the Nationals next year".
This competition saw only three female competitors,
