A late collapse on Wall Street could set
back Australian share markets when they
open this week.

Wall Street dropped sharply in the last
half hour of trading on Friday, US time,
causing the Dow Jones industrial index
to fall 44.6 points for the day, to 2857.1
points, even though traders had received
some encouragement earlier from the

the late reversal.

1.912.7 points.

The Japanese market eased slightly on
Friday, when the Nikkei dropped by 393
points, or 1 per cent, to 31695 points.
