Driver's sentence
suspended
A 34-year-old man was given a six-month
suspended sentence and fined a total of 51,100
after he appeared in Canberra Petty Sessions
yesterday on charges including drink-driving and
driving without a licence.
Before Mr Dainer, SM, was Mr John Sebbo
Arvila, a driver, of Eggleston Crescent, Chifley.
He pleaded guilty to charges of drink-driving,
being an unlicensed driver, and driving a car without
registration and third-party insurance.
It was alleged that Mr Arvila had had a Breath
alyzer reading of 0.130.
On the charge of driving with more than the
prescribed concentration of alcohol, he was sentenced
to six months' jail, suspended upon his entering a
S 1,000, two-year good-behaviour bond, and fined
S750.
He was fined SI50 on each of the charges of
driving an unregistered vehicle and not having third
party insurance and S50 on the charge of being an
unliccnccd driver.
Mr Dainer ordered that Mr Arvila be disqualified
from holding or obtaining a driving licence in the ACT
until the court orders otherwise.
