Rheuben wins fours

Rheuben, 52, won his second
national fours title at Holdfast
Bay, Adelaide, yesterday.
The Sydney bowler led his
team of Ivan Vlatko, Jim Hall
and David Blumberg to a con
vincing 26-17 win over Western
Australian David Katuna-Rich in
•he final.
Rheuben, a world cham
pionships gold medallist, last won
the fours as part of the team of
Frank Soars in 1970.
The Sydney lineup's greater
overall experience told in the end
after the Western Australians
threatened to overhaul them with
six ends to play. "We didn't think
we had it won till the last bowl,"
Rhcuben said. "It wasn't an easy
match at all . . .
Katuna-Rich, 32, won his
gruelling five-hour semi-final
against Victorian Ken Hatty
24-20.
Rheuben's Rydalmere Central
team-mate, Jack Christey, will
attempt to win the singles title
when he plays another New
South Welshman, Jeff Bradley,
from Cooma, today.
