Following the recent rains the
greens at the week-end were not so
fast as usual, nevertheless some
very keen play was witnessed.
In the B grade singles Geo. Troy
met Harold Ryder in the final of
this event Troy by very consist
ent drawing gained an early lead,
and at the 13th head led by 13 to 6.
Ryder improved his position slight
ly, and wus truiling 10-14 at the
10th head. Troy then went on to
add 11 to his opponent's 2, and the
score was 25-13 at tbo 23rd head.
At the 28tli head Ryder had reduced
the difference to 9 points, but Troy
continued to score one on each head
by constantly drawing to tho jack,
and at the 30th head run out a. win
ner by; 31 points to 20.

ning this event, and also to the run.
ner up on a very creditable per
formance. ' .
Drinkwater and Bray by defeat
ing S. Fowler and Howarth 23-21,
aftor playing an . extra -head, en
tered the semi-final in the pairs
championship. The game was very
stubbornly contested, each side win
ning an equal number .of heads. In
the llrst halt of the game Fowler
led by 14-6, but Bray then .went on
to score -1, 3 and 5, and took the
lead 1S-15 at the 16th head. Fow
ler then collected 3 and 1 and led
19-18. In the next three heads
Bray scored 3 and Fowler 2, making
the score 21 all at; tha '21st head
An extra head was then played and
Drinkwater and Bray -clinched - the
match by scoring 2.
