Kellerman film given
to National Library
Film of one of
Australia's most famous
swimmers, Annette
Kellerman, has been
deposited in the National
Film Archive at the
National Library of
Australia.
The film shows Miss
Kellerman dancing
underwater. She was
crippled during childhood
but became a world-class
swimmer and Hollywood
water-ballet star.
A print of the film is
currently being shown at
the Sydney Opera House
as part of a swimming and
surfing exhibition, part of
the Sydney Festival.
The film was presented
by the Opera House
exhibitions manager. Mr
Lloyd Ravenscroft, and
the researcher of the
swimming exhibition, Mrs
Barbara Firth, on behalf
of the Annette Kellerman
estate.
