MELBOURNE, Wednes
day.— "The suspense is ter
rific, but you learn to live
with tho intense strain", Mr
David Kennedy, the ALP
candidate for the seat of
Bendigo, said today.
Mr Kennedy, 34, was wait
ing out his third cliff-hanger
flection result in five years.
In 1969 he won the seat of
Bendigo by 165 votes, but in
December, 1972, he was
ousted by the Liberal can
didate, Mr John Bourchier
by fewer than 200 votes.
Mr Kennedy a former
school teacher, became press
secretary for tho Minister for
Overseas Trade, Dr Cairns,
after his loss.
With preferences not being
distributed until next
Wednesday at the earliest,
Mr Kennedy wil not know
his fate for another week.
