Sunbury
pop
festival
'quiet'
MELBOURNE,
Sunday — The 30,000
pop fans at the Sunbury
festival, 20 miles north
of Melbourne, had a
very quiet weekend,
apart from the music.
The only major incident
reported by police was the
ejection this morning of
about 45 members of vari-
ous bikie groups who were
involved in fights and dis-
turbances last night.
Police said only 10
people had been arrested
so far, mainly for drun-
kenness.
No beer was sold on the
site today and organisers
felt that contributed to the
general lack of trouble.
Topless
fashion
The Victorian Minister
for Youth, Sport and
Recreation, Mr Brian
Dixon, visited the site
today and was grabbed by
a topless girl as he left the
stage.
Asked for his opinion
on topless fashions he
said. "When my wife is
topless with me, it is fan-
tastic, but I wouldn't want
my daughters to do it. As
for bottomless men, that is
unnecessary".
He said he was thrilled
with the festival and
hoped that his department
could help in some way
next year.
The chief of the Victor-
ian drug squad, Detective
Inspector Kyle-Powell said
there had been no arrests
for drugs. The Buoyancy
drug clinic recorded only
three cases since the festi-
val began, all bad LSD
trips.
