Kennedy not to
coach Hawks
MELBOURNE, Wednesday. — John
Kennedy, coach of VFL premier Hawthorn,
resigned at a club meeting last night.
Surprised officials immediately persuaded him
to reconsider, and Kennedy agreed to take leave of
absence for one year.,
Kennedy, 48, is a member of the Victorian
Teachers Tribunal he told the committee he needed
more time at home with his family. As a
successful coach his training schedules were so
rigorous Hawthorn players bccame known as
"Kennedy's commandos".
Assistant coach David Parkin has been given
charge of the Hawks for this season.
