BEGINNING
LONG HIKE
Two members o£ the
United States Marine Corps
dctachmcnt at the Ameri
can Embassy will start
walking 50 miles today,
from their quarters in
Kingston to Bredbo on the
Cooma Road.
The marines, Cpl. Bob
Bradford and Cpl. Henr^
Thompson, will leave on the
long hike this morning, carry
ing 251b. packs.
Two other members of the
American Marine detachmenl
it the Embassy, Cpls. James
Michaud and Harry Man
chester, walked the 50 miles
last April, well within the
iime limit set down bj
President Theodora Roosevell
in 1908.
The 50-mile test requires

The hike was revived early
