CZECHOSLOVAKIA
Mr Ulbricht
arrives for
talks
KARLOVY VARY, Czechoslo
vakia. Monday (AAP-Reuter). -
Mr Walter Ulbricht, the East Ger
man leader, and other high officials
of the East German Communist
Party, landed in Karlovy Vary by
air today for talks with Czechoslo
vak leaders on the future of rela
tions between the two countries.
Mr Dubcck, the Czechoslovak party
leader, arrived a few minutes before
the East Germans and was on hand to
greet them.
Mr Ulbricht got a frosty welcome
from the Czechoslovak crowd of 500.
President Tito of Yugoslavia, the first
to set his country on its own "i;oad to
socialism" in defiance of Moscow, left
Prague yesterday after a triumphal
two-day visit marked by chcering
throngs grateful for his moral support
during Czechoslovakia's crisis with the
Soviet Union.
To most Czechs, it was Mr Ulbricht,
and not the Soviets with their troops,
who emerged as the villain in last
month's war of nerves against the new
leadership in Prague.
