NRA title
to Hawes
In excellent shooting
conditions, the final
shoot on the present site
ended on a high note at
Ihe Canberra rifle range
on Saturday.
Frank Webb, who now
shoots only occasionally,
and club vicc-captain Jim
Mcintosh set a hot pace
and led the field at the end
of the day.
Both shooters — who
joined the club in 1930 —
were in excellent form and
it was fitting that they
should highlight their shoots
with single stage possibles
in the present range's last
event.
The shoot for the NRA
medal, conducted over
ranges 300 to 900 yards
during the past few weeks,
was finalised on Saturday
and resulted in a win for
Charlie Hawes with a total
of 448 points with Jim Mc
intosh filling second place
on 444 points.
Now that the Canberra
range is closed, interested
shooters are advised that a
practice shoot will be held
next Sunday morning in
Queanbeyan.
