Journalists to
discuss their
profession
More than 120 journalists from a!! parts of
Australia will attend the second Summer
School of Professional Journalism in Canberra
at the weekend.
The Governor-General,
Lord Casey, will open the
school tomorrow morning
in the Haydon-Allen build
ing at the ANU. The theme
of the school will be The
Australian Press and
Foreign News.
The six speakers at the
two-day school will he:
Professor W. Macmahon
Ball, of Melbourne Uni
versity, who will speak on
Foreign News and
the Australian ". ..
Mr Richard Woolcott, of
the Department of Exter
nal Affairs - Foreign
News and National
Policy.
Mr Peter Hastings, former
editor of the Bulletin,
and now special corres
pondent for the Aus
i - The Australian
Jtcss and Papua-New
Guinea.
Mr jonn Hoftman, over
seas services editor of the
Herald, Melbourne -
Presentation of Foreign
News in the Australian
Press.
Mr Bruce Grant, lecturer,
author and foreign cor
respondent - Collection
of Foreign News in the
Australian Press.
Professor W. Sprague
Holden, Professor of
journalism at the Wayne
State University, Michi
gan, US.
Prof Holden is on his
second, visit to Australia.
After his first trip he wrote
the book Australia Goes to
Press. _
The school will end on
Sunday evening with a
river cruise on Lake Burley
Griffin.
