BHP LEADS ,
MARKET IN
MELBOURNE
The Melbourne Stock Exchange opened
the week on a very optimistic pattern with >
investors showing more confidence in contrast
with a weakened trend over the past week.
The main room was
given the lead with a rise
of 1/3 by industrial
leader, who were
marked up to 58/3.
Boral (33/9), Burns Philp
(114/6), C.I. Gases (104A),
James Hardie rights (105/-)
and Rothmans (34/6) all
moved forward l/- in brisk
afternoon trading.
Howard Smith jumped
1/3 to 65/9 to record an
other notable rise in what
was the best afternoon for
some time for leading issues.
