VITAL PLANE
PARTS FOUND
All parts of the crashed Ansett-A.N.A.
Viscount airliner vital to the technical investiga-
tion had been recovered, the Minister for Civil
Aviation, Senator Paltridge said yesterday.
The airliner crashed into
Botany Bay on November 30
killing the 15 passengers and
crew.
It was on a flight from Syd-
ney to Canberra.
Senator Paltridge said no
date had been fixed for the
public inquiry into the disas-
ter.
He said diving operations
would continue for several
more days.
The main wreckage area
would be rechecked for any
parts which shifting sand
might have exposed since the
divers first searched the area.
The investigation team now
could concentrate on the
technical lines of investiga-
tion necessary for the full
and complete study of the
accident.
Most of the wreckage was
being studied in a hangar at
Sydney Airport.
The airliner's engines and
parts of the instruments and
structure were being examin-
ed in research laboratories in
Sydney and Melbourne.
He paid tribute to the
Navy divers who engaged on
salvage work.
The salvage had contribu-
ted immeasurably to the
technical investigation, Sena-
tor Paltridge said.
When the technical investi-
gation was completed he
would receive a report.
The report would be made
available to the public in-
quiry into the accident.
