TUESDAY, 13th APRIL.
Before Mr. Belcher.
DRUNK.
One defendant pleaded guilty to being drunk
on the 9th instant. According to the Senior
sergeant's evidence, he had been drinking
methylated spirits.
Defendant said he would never touch it again,
but he still looked as if he were suffering from
the effects.
He was remanded till Friday.
Another defendant was fined 20/, in default
three days' hard labour in Goulburn Gaol, for
being drunk.
ADJOURNED.
George Martin and David Saaidi Verena
pleaded not guilty to having knowingly
in a building known as Mrs. Bourke's, in Clin-
street, four tweed caps and one straw hat, of the
value of about 17s, which might be reasonably
suspected of being stolen or unlawfully obtain
ed.
Senior-sergeant McHardy deposed that he
saw defendants in the house of Mrs. Bourke on
Monday; witness arrested them and charged
them with the offence read out; they made no
reply; a remand was now asked for.
The cases were adjourned till Thursday next.
Another charge against the same two defend
ants of having three hats, valued at about £1
10s, in the building known as the kerosene store,
near the railway station, was also adjourned
till the same date.
