IT is arranged that Mr. District Court Judge
Mo Farland shall take Judge Dowling' 'plnac per
mnsontly on the retirement of the latter, who is
now on leaven of absence. Judge Backbouso takes
the southern district,
Mr. Edyn Manning, for many years connected
with the Illawarra Steam Navigation Company, died
at Wentworth Falls on Saturday. Ho had nearly
reached his 82nd year.
The representatives of a number of engineering
firms waited upon the minister for works by invita
tion this morning, in reference to thne makling of
cast-iron pipes in the colony. Mr. Fletcher stated
that 62,000 tons would be wanted during the naxt
five years. The 'oal upshot of thi meeting was that
no one had anything lioe suflicient capital to embark
in the undertaking.
Georsgo Mackenzio has boon arrested on tho charge

wethers, 10/7, to. 700 cattle yarded; market un
altered. We sold 230, including Whanlan's bullocks,
averaging .£9 15/, topping thie marbot; Barbour's,
£8; Harringtong', £7 18/2; Goodwio's, £7 6/3; and
Key's Hunter bulloclks, £7 2/,
