HARMLESS BOMBS NEAR WEEROONA
Were Left After Army Exercises
Yesterday Maj. J. O. Geddes (officer commanding D Company of 43rd/48th Infantry Battalion) said that reports had been received of some unexploded bombs having been seen at low tide oil the north western corner of Weeroona Island on the eastern side of Pirie River. However, the public could be as sured that they were inert Piat bombs, and were quite harmless.
. Maj. Geddes said that tho only unexploded bombs left in the area following anny exorcises . a year age were destroyed within a few weeks of being tired, but there were still a few of the harmless Piat bombs near the north-western corner of the island.
