TWO STEAMERS ADRIFT IN CYCLONE
Helpless Off Queensland Coast
. Two steamere are adrift off the coast of Queensland and at the mercy of a cyclone. They are the liners Oonah and Maheno, which were sold recently to Japanese shipbreakers. The Oonah was towing the Maheno from Sydney to Osaka, when the steering gear be
came disabled and the towline parted. The Maheno ie helpless, as it is under stood that the propellers were taken off before she left Sydney, and she is not carrying fuel. According to a wireless message re ceived in Melbourne by the Direc tor of Navigation (Captain J. K. Davis), the Oonah is unable to render assistance until the damage to her steering gear has been repaired. Mean while, the two ships are drifting help lessly 60 miles south-east of Sandy Cape, Queensland.
