She will leave to-morrow and according
to schedule she should reach Freman

ARRIVAL OF THE ALLINGA.
FROM THE NORTH.
The Nor' -West mail steamer
ALLINGA arrived at Fremantle from
Derby via ports a£ 8.30 this morning,
and was berthed at the Quay. Capt H.
S. Steer, R.N.R, reports that strong
sou'-west winds and an exceptionally
heavy- swell from the' westward was
experienced all the -way down from
Nor'-West Cape.
The Allinga brought 'a large num-
ber of passengers and cargo. She.will
leave for Wvndham via ports on Satur
day next.
THE CLAN MACEWAN

On completion of the discharge of
her present cargo of pigiron, the
Cayzer-Irvine line's new steamer
CLAN MACEWAN, which , is ''berthed
at Victoria Quay, will- proceed -to , the
Eastern' States to load wool for 'Home'
ports.
THE INVERTAY

'' The steamer INVERTAT, which was
recently at Frematle, and which has
been employed in the' Australian inter-
state- trade, .for some. months past,' on
account of the Adelaide S.S. Company,
has completed that engagement, , and
has been handed over to the Caledonian
Coal Company at Newcastle, from
where- she will proceed to the East
with a cargo of coal.

DUE WEDNESDAY NEXT

The s.s.,MOONTA, which left Derby,
at 11 pm - on Tuesday for Fremantle
direct, is, according to, advice received
by 'the' Adelaide, S.S.'Co., Ltd, bringing
down 540 head pf-cattte and 755 sheep.
She' is expected to arrive on Wednes
day next.

?According to cable advice received
by Messrs. Strelitz Bros., the German -
Australian ? steamer DUSSELDORF
sailed^from Hamburg on Saturday last
for Australia. She is expected to ar
rive at Fremantle about November 10,
to put out a quantity of general cargo.
THE ALLINGA'S CARGO.
' The cargo by the s.s. ALLINGA from1
the Nor'-West consisted of 1.&07 sheep,
192 -bullocks (all of w,hjch were landed
in- excellent condition), »1 box bullion
(gold), 314 bags pearl shell, 504 bales
wool, 29 cases shell, 4- bags tin ore, 120
bags metallic ore, 1 racehorse, 1 stal
lion, 1 motor-car, 1 sulky, and- a- quan
tity of sundries. ' \ ^
The members of the , Perth branch
of the ^General Workers'! Union have
decided to ' strike a levy of 6d. per
member to assist the miners , of Waihi.
and Reeftonin N.Z. in tneir protracted
struggle' for better conditions. .The
?levy will be coatimied each week until
-further notice, and 1\ the secretary has
been instructed to. send -a message to
the miners expressing sympathy and
support. ' The members of the General
Workers' Union decided that the. mes
sage should convey the intimation that
unionists in WtA.. recognised .that 'your
fight is our £ght' ? .
At a- meeting of the board of con
trol of the Shop' Assistants' Union last
night M.r F. A. Schutz was appointed
organiser and collector. Mr. Schutze,
who has been- employed at Boan Bros,
in the mercery department, has been
an officer of the union ror some con
siderable time. There were a large
number of applicants for the position.
The Metropolitan Council of - the
A.L.F. will hold its fortnightly meeting
to-night at the Trades Hal:. Besides
the ordinary -business, there Trill be an
election for the position of president,
which was rendered vacant through
the resignation of Mr. B. J. Stubbs,
M.L.A. ? There are two. nominations for
the position— .Mr. P. ' J. Moonie and
Mr. W. Clark. The delegateg wiil also,
be asked to elect an . assistant.- secre
tary to help Mr. 'M'Calium with the
extra duties which will fall to him
during the- forthcoming Federal elec
tions.
