NEW YORK, Sunday.-Major Frederick Benjamin Carlin, a 35 year-old Australian, is to embark from New York on a unique round the-world trip in a Ford amphibious jeep.

With a cruising speed of five miles an hour, Carlin's jeep "Crea tion" has a marine radius of 2200 miles without extra petrol tanks.
He will carry two-way radio equip ment on tho first leg of the journey, which will be from New York to the Azores (2604 miles) and Casa blanca (0G0), then by land through Cairo (4000), Baghdad (1300), Delhi (3500), Calcutta (1200), and thence to Akyab, Burma by water (300). thence to Bangkok (1400), and Sai gon (400) by land, then a series of water hops to the Philippines (850), Palau (1000), Truk (1100), Bikini (1100), Wake Is.
