BRITISH ENGINEERS AVERT A GREAT LOSS OF LIFE.
An immense flood in the Bengal province of India has occurred through the breaking away and bursting of the embankment at the lower end of the Great Gobena Lake. Owing to the foresight and energy of several British engineers, in diverting the stream, some thousands of villagers were saved from being drowned.
