Heavy Rain Reaches Stations An intense local rain system moving in over the coast north of Carnarvon deluged Gnaraloo Station with 610 points to 8 a.m. yesterday and brought up to 3in. to stations nearby. Other recordings were 303 points at Ningaloo Station (to the north), 225 at Point Cloates, 190 to Minilya Station (further inland) and 180 to Quobba Sta tion (to the south). Pastoralists in most areas of the Gascoyne are now assured of a good season. Bean crops and banana plantations are thriving. Yesterday's rain was light to moderate although fairly gene ral throughout the Fortescue agricultural areas, and the lower South-West and reached a few places in the eastern Goldfields. The heaviest rain recorded at a weather reporting station to 9 atn. yesterday was 70 points at Bullfinch. Kuja reported 56. Merredin 54, Woorarnel 50, Kununoppin 48, Hamelin Pool 47 and Yal goo and Kalannie 44. Scattered light rain fell over the sub-tropics between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.. the highest being 25 points at Esperance. Indications last night were that further scattered rain could be expected today in most parts of the sub-tropics.
