WORLD'S BEST 10 IN TENNIS

By HARRY HOPMAN

MELBOURNE, Sunday. — Two Australians, John Brora wich and Dinny Pails, are in cluded in my world's First Ten.

x raie mem, axi-er ooserving first-class tennis and major cham Dionships in England, Europe United States, and Australia in ;he past 12 months. My first 10 is: Jack Kramer (U.S.A.). Ted Schroeder (U.S.A.). John Bromwich (Aust.). Frank Parker (U.S.A.). Dinny Pails (Aust.). Gardnar Mulloy (U.S.A.). Tom Brown (U.S.A.). Yvon Petra (France). Marcel Bernard (France). Jaroslav Drobny (Czechoslov akia). California's Jack Kramer is the player of the year, although he won only one of the four major championships (American, Aus tralian, English, and French)— that of his own country. He showed marked superiority over opponents in the. two Davis Cup ties he played, against Sweden in the inter-zone final, and Aus tralia in the challenge round.

Ted Schroeder won the United States singles in 1942, just befors he went into the Navy Air Arm. Schrocder's great win over Bromwich on the opening day of the Davis Cup, was mainly re sponsible for his high ranking. Bromwich Better Bromwich met Pails twice in a major title, beating him in the New South Wales singles final and losing the Australian final. Bromwich lost to Kramer at their only meeting, beat Schroeder once and lost to him once, and beat Mulloy both times they met. Pails lost to Kramer, Schroeder, Mulloy, and Talbert, and beat Tom Brown the only time he met each of these Americans. Mulloy's Praise For Officials

Gardnar Mulloy, U.S. tennis star, who left Brisbane yesterday with his partner, Bill Talbert, said before leaving: 'I consider the L.T.A.A. officials equal to any in the world. We have had a very enioyab'e trip.' Both Mulloy and Talbert said they considered Australia to be the most tennis-minded country in the world. The two players will probably leave Sydney for America tomor row. They are due to play at Miami. Florida, on February 17.
