LEOPARD SWEATER
none Help
Authentic leopard
spots are knitted into
a luxury-light mohair
sweater — shown in
color on page 1 of
this lift - out book.
Materials: 13 (14) balls main
color (m.c), 7 (7) balls con-
trasting color (c.c.) Patons Mo-
hair Knitting Yarn; 1 pair each
Nos. 7 and 8 needles.
Measurements: To fit 32/33-
34/35in. bust loosely; length
from top of shoulder, 26in.;
sleeve, 16½in.
Tension: 11½ sts. to 2in.
Note: When carrying yarn not
in use along back of work re-
member to leave yarn loose
enough for tension required.
FRONT
Using m.c. and No. 8
needles, cast on 106 (114) sts.
and work in st-st. for 1in.
Change to No. 7 needles and
work in st-st. for 1in., ending
on p row.
Next Row: Join in c.c. and
work from 1st row (bottom line)
of graphs as follows:
K 0 (4) sts. m.c., k 6 sts. from
graph 1, k 4 m.c., k 6 sts. from
graph, 2, k 4 m.c., k 6 sts. from
graph 3, k 4 m.c., k 6 sts. from
graph 4, k 4 m.c., k 6 sts. from
graph 5, k 4 m.c., k 6 sts. from
graph 6, k 4 m.c., k 6 sts. from
graph 7, k 4 m.c., k 6 sts. from
graph 1, k 4 m.c., k 6 sts. from

When work measures 18in.
from beg., tie in markers to
indicate armhole.

26in. from beg., ending with 2
rows in m.c.
To Shape Shoulder: Cast off
8 (8) sts. at beg. of next 6 rows,
then 9 (11) sts. at beg. of next
2 rows.
Work ½in. in patt. on rem. 40
(44) sts.
Using m.c. only work 1in. in
k 1, p 1 rib. Cast off.
BACK
As front, reversing order of
graphs by beg. and ending first
row of graphs with 5 (9) sts.
in m.c. and 2nd set of graphs
with 0 (4) sts. in m.c.
SLEEVES
Using m.c. and No. 8 needles
cast on 54 (54) sts. and work in
st-st. for 1in. Change to No. 7
needles, join in c.c., k 4 m.c.,
begin patt. of graphs as before, at
the same time inc. 1 st. each end
of needle in 5th and foll. 6th rows
until there are 76 (80) sts., then
every 4th row to 82 (86) sts.
Cont. until sleeve measures 16½in.
(or length required).
Cast off 3 sts. at beg. of next
20 rows. Cast off rem. 22 (26)
sts.
TO MAKE UP
Press work on wrong side.
Using small back-stitch, join
shoulders. Back-stitch sleeves to
garment, marker to marker at
this point. Back-stitch rem. seams.
Turn hems round lower edges,
sleeve and neck edge to inside
and sl-st. in position on wrong
side. Press seams.
