MT. LAWLEY IMPROVEMENTS. Loan of £14.776 Proposed. The raising of a loan of £14,776 for ex penditure on roads, footpaths and drain age at Mt. Lawley was approved at a meeting of the Perth Road Board on Tuesday night. It was decided to refer to the Perth City Council, for joint action, a proposal to widen Walcott-street be tween Macpherson-street and Ardross crescent. The proposed work, which was set out in a report presented by the board's engineer (Mr. F. A. Potts), provides for construction of an underground storm water drain beginning near the intersec tion of Elstree-avenue and Clyde-road and traversing Clyde-road, Inverness crescent and Graham-road to the Lanark street intersection. It is proposed to have branch drains in Ardross-crescent, Mac pherson-street, Inverness-crescent, Els tree-avenue and Holmfirth-street. The work will include additions to existing underground stormwater drains in Rook wood, Woodlands, Thongsbridge and Ferrar streets. The widening of sections of the follow ing streets from 16ft. to 20ft., with con crete kerbing and a two-coat bitumen sur face, is intended:-Holmfirth-street, In verness, Dumbarton and Ardross cres cents, Graham-road, Eanark-street, Els tree-avenue, Clyde-road, Melrose-crescent, Alexander-drive and Macpherson-street. The scheme provides for new construction work in Ferrar, Woodlands and Robin streets. These streets will be 16ft. wide and will be surfaced with bitumen. It is expected that contingencies, cost of supervision and initial expenditure in connection with raising of the loan will amount to £1,290.
