A FIVE-POINT MARGIN. Swan Districts beat Subiaco by only five points at Bassendean on Saturday. After having held a good lead from the start of play, the Swan' Districts team slackened in the last quarter and nearly had victory snatched from it. The deci sive factor in its favour was that it took the honours in the midfield play. Final scores: Swan Districts .. .. 21.10 (136pts.). Subiaco .. .. .. .. 20.11 (l3lpts.). Goal-kdckers:--Swan Districts: Ditch burn (7), Sweetapple (4), Holmes (3). Wicks (3), Rosewarne (2) and Oakley (2). Subiaco: Hardiman "', Cartledge (4), Bunton (3), Brewer (3), Shea, B. Smith and Bennett. Sinclair was most effective in the centre for Swan Districts. Murray dis tinguished himself in ruck and at half back, and Sweetapple, roving, was pro minent throughout. Rosewarne and Ditchburn had a strong influence. Mosey, Moiler, J. Williams, Zilko, Wicks, Holmes and Oakley were useful. Baker received a fractured shin in the second quarter and after medical treat ment was taken to hospital by the St. John ambulance. For Subiaco, B. Smith was spectacu lar with fearless marking and great knock-outs from ruck, and his kicking was much improved. Hardiman played excellently as goal-sneak, successful tac tics being employed in exploiting his fine marking ability. Bunton roved in de lightful fashion, though hampered by weakness in the ruck.
