WEST PERTH'S MEETING. New Secretary Elected. At the annual business meeting end reunion of the West Perth Football Club last night, Mr. T. Soutar won the elec tion for the secretaryship from Mr. D. W. Deering, who held the position last season. Mr. Deering was elected to the committee. Mr. C. J. Veryard, who was in the chair, was re-elected unopposed as president. References were made dur ing the evening to the low position oc cupied by West Perth on the premier ship last last season and players and supporters were urged to continue to stand behind the club. In proposing the toast of the club, Mr. I. Vann said that he was dissatisfied to hear that supporters and. towards the end of the season, even the players, had lost interest in the club's activities. He appealed to the supporters to assist the club and urged the incoming committee to do everything in its power to foster the game among the juniors. Mr. Veryard struck a similar note in his reply. He told the meeting that the outgoing committee had recommended that 1. Hutchinson be appointed coach of the club and he hoped that the new committee would approve of that ap pointment. Mr. Deering congratulated Mr. Soutar on winning the election. He said that as captain, coach and head trainer Mr. Soutar had been a hard worker for the club and he hoped that he would be successful in his new position. During the evening E. Tyson was pre sented with a life membership badge and a framed certificate acknowledging his 10 years of service to the club. Refer ence was made to his performance in kicking 1,018 goals during his period with the club. D. Marinko, who was not pre sent, was also elected a life member and he, too, will receive a certificate for his 13 years of service. The trophy for the fairest .and best player for 1939 was awarded to E. O'Keefe. Other trophy winners were P. Walsh, W. Kingsbury, J. Davies, W. Golding, E. Giese, D. Caplin, E. Tyson, B. Bridges, W. Rainoidi, J. Pola, P. Moran and N. Cook. The following, office-bearers were elected:-President, Mr. Veryard; senior vice-president, Mr. W. Seymour: secre tary, Mr. Soutar; treasurer, Mr. H. Jack son; committee, Messrs. S. F. Jeffery, J. J. Dineen, R. Fletcher, W. Hutchinson, D. W. Deering and E. Caddy.
