ALTITUDE FLIGHTS. Demonstration Over Perth. With the object of arousing interest in air defence, and to enable people to judge the altitude at which an aeroplane Is flying, a series of flights over Perth will be made today by a plane chartered by Mr. Norbert Keenan, M.L.A., Pro fessor W. Murdoch and Mr. C. L. K. Foot. In the event of an air raid, a knowledge of the height at which an aeroplane was flying would, it is claimed, enable people to judge whether it was within effective machine-gun range or whether the dan ger was from bombs alone. The flight will be made in five laps of varying heights, the plane flying over the city from the Causeway to Parlia ment House, gaining altitude over South Perth, and then flying over the city again. The first flight along Adelaide terrace and St. George's-terrace, which will start at 12.30 p.m., will be made at 1,000ft., and the subsequent flights over the city will be made at 2,500ft., 5,000ft., 7,500ft, and 10,000ft. Each lap should take from 10 to 15 minutes.
