1,800 KILLED IN HURRICANE
Cuba Storm Worst In Nation's History HAVANA, November 10.
It is estimated that 1,800 were killed and hundreds injured in the hurricane which swept eastern and central Cuba yesterday. The storm was one of the
greatest in Cuba's history. It anni- hilated tbe town of Santa Cruz Del Sur and laid waste almost the entire province. Police in Camaguey said that the known dead number 1,003. Winds drove the sea over the walls protecting Santa Cruz and flooded the town to a depth of 21 feet. Not a single house was left standing. Many people were drowned. The injured are being attended to improvised hospitals. In Camaquey 257 buildings were destroyed and a thousand others damaged. Vast cane fields were laid flat, and trees con- verted into brushwood. Banana plants were flattened.
