FLOOD DAMAGE IN INDIA
Million Homeless
CALCUTTA, September 17 (A.A.P.).-Floods in the United Provinces from the Ganges and Jumna rivers are racing across the thickly populated districts of Alla- habad, Benares, Ballia, Jaunpur,
and Bandar.
They have driven 1,000,000 people from their homes, and de- stroyed 18,000 cattle and 200,000 tons of crops.
About 95 villages have been inun-
dated.
TOKYO FLOODS
TOKYO, Sept. 17 (A.A.P.-Reuter). Two million homes were inun-
dated and 75 square miles of country were flooded in Tokyo and outlying areas by the recent typhoon.
The flood was the worst since 1907.
