V-BOMB DAMAGE IN BELGIUM EXTENSIVE
More than 5,000 Belgians were killed and 21,000 injured 'during the
six months of V-bomb attacks
This is revealed' by, a SHAEF mission to Belgium which says that far more than half of the houses in Anewerp and Liege aieas had been destroyed or damaged.
Between May 10/ 1940, and June 30, 1942, the war destroyed 9,610 houses throughout Belgium and in Greater Antwerp alone 5,406 houses were destroyed from October 1, 1944, to the end of the flying-bomb at- tacks, while Liege had 3,900 houses destroyed in the same period.
A total of 2,342 V-bombs fell over a ten-mile radius around Antwerp, of which 2,131 were V-2 bombs.
Liege suffered mostly from V-l bombs and 1,062 persons were killed and 1,818 injured during the six
months to March.
