READY FOR

LAUGH

OFFENSIVE

Bluey and Curley of the Second AIF are at their war stations in readiness for their laugh offensive on Tasmania They will make their attack through the pages of ' The Mercury " and from Monday next readers will throw up their hands in complete surrender and abandonment to the comic thrusts of these two brand new pen-and-ink characters

Bluey and Curley are the creations of

Alex Gurney well-known and brilliant Tasmanian black-and-white artist His pen puppets are the children of his own brain, a couple of typical 1941 "diggers,"

ready to laugh, fight, and poke fun at

themselves and the "brass hats" at the least provocation-indeed, without any provocation

Daily in the columns of "The Mer- cury" this Gurney comic strip will pre- sent Bluey and Curley in a scintillating travesty of A IF life-a burlesque that respects no one, but hurts no one

Bluey and Curley are made of the stuff which Ins made the "digger" popul ir among the peoples of many countries They have a keen sense of humour and a rcadv wit and answer for any thrusts made at them

Watch for Bluey and Curley of the Second A I F They have been created for your enjoyment, and will make merry in 'The Mercury" daily from Monday next
