J. LEWIS TO RETIRE
Melbourne Club Prizes
Victorian League football will lose one of
its most brilliant and consistent players
through the decision of J. Lewis, the stal
wart Melbourne club, player, to rotlre from
senior football. Lewis will probably retain
his connection with the game, which he has
served for nearly eighteen years, as a junior
football coach. He is at present still Incapa
citated with a broken arm, received as a re
sult of the Melbourne-Footscray match.
Special seasonal prizes , have been awarded
by the Melbourne Football Club as follow:
Best nnd fairest player, N. Smith; most de
termined plnyer, F. Roberts; most consistent
player, P. Bcames; most improved senior player,
G. Jones; best first-year plnyer, D. Kingston;
goal kicking (club record), N. Smith; most
accomplished plnyer, W. Lock; special trophy,
clubmon, R. Bnggott; most briliinnt player,
J. Mueller; most unselfish plnyer R. Barassl:
special effort, Carlton and ColUngwooa
matches, J, Furncss.
FRANKSTON. — E. Roscnbrock has been
awarded the Sherlock and Hav cup for the
best and fairest nlaycr in Fratikston A grade
premier team. The Whitlock meoal for best
and fairest in the B grade competition, of the
Peninsula Football - League, was won by H.
Downing, of Rosebud club. ; Balnaprlng Foot
ball Club will celebrate a successful season
by holding Its "end of the season" ball on
October 5.
