THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB.
to the editor of the age.
. Sir,— As I know you are an advocate for fair
play and honorable conduct oven in a football
arrangement, will you be good enough to allow
uie space in your valuable paper to expose the
discourteous conduct of tho above club towards
the Toorak Football Club on Saturday last? As
you aro aware, matches are all arranged somo
time before the commencement of the season.
Members tnereioro study their lists and show
great interest in auy importaut match, for in-
stnitfce, a match with a seuior club. Saturday
iust was the duto arranged for a match between
the Toorak. and Melbourne clubs, but at ono
o'clock sorao incuibcra of the former club
were informed by the Alelbourno secretary
that Alelbourno would be unable to raise
a good team, aud «hat the match wan
cancelled. Hardly believing that any club, much
ie$3 a senior assuming such importance as tho
Melbourne, would act in such a cavalier manner,
1 went out to their ground where the match was
to have been played (and whero a number of tho
Toorak club, .who knew nothing of the alteration
of the arrangement, had already assembled), and
found that ouly one member of the senior club
(the captain) put in un appearance. This is the
Second time during the present season that tbo
Toorak team has come to the iMeibourne ground
to fulfil their cngageuont with that club and
been disappointed of a game. It would be well
if the association would take notice of this
matter, and just give the AI.F.C. a slight warn
iug to tbo effect that future similar treatment
would not be lightly passed over- — Yours. Ac..
