I Arunta Tribe
! Girl Star
DARWIN, Wednesday. An attractive 16-year-old aboriginal girl from Alice Springs has been selected as star of the film, "Jedda."
She is Ngarla (pronounced Narla) Kunoth, a direct des- cendent of the Arunta tribe, one of the oldest in the world.
Film producer Mr. Charles Chauvel announced his deci- sion at Darwin to-day. He said he hoped Ngarla would become ambassadress for the Arunta tribe in film art as other members of the tribe had become famous water colourists. Famous artists, such as Albert Namatjira and Walter Ebatarinja, are mem- bers of the Arunta tribe.
