ST AN MOLAN
' PASSES
this week to hear ol tbe sudden
death of Stan Molan, a chamuion
half-back with Fitzroy during their
last premiership run in l'J22.
Molan was apparently in the best
of health and was out walking with
an old friend on the Sunday. Later
he had a heart seizure which proved
lata).
He belonged to the palmy days of
ihe old Maroons. He started at
Fitzroy in 1918 as a half-forward, but
ijuickly changed to centre half-back.
At that time the Fitzroy delence
was outstanding lor its vigorous opposition,
and Molan was prominent lor
his fearless dash and the use ol
hips and shoulders.
He was a member of the Government
Audit Department, and had a
wide circle of friends.
There was a big gathering of sportsmen
at his funeral yesterday, indicative
of the great esteem in which
he was held. Ampng the many foot
