REFUGEE JEWS ARRIVE
Trip From France
Refugees who served in Allied armies and some who suffered in concentration camps were among the 187 Jews who arrived in Sydney
from Marseilles yesterday in the French steamer Ville d'Amiens. They were sponsored by relatives
and friends in Australia.
They included seven medical prac- titioners and several Polish lawyers. The majority of the others were quali- fied tradesmen of various kinds. They gathered in Marseilles from Poland, Czechoslovakia, .and Germany.
Among them was Miss Halina, Kozubowska, a Polish lawyer, who was a member of the Polish under- ground. She was met by Flight-Lieut. Keith Chisholm, R.A.A.F., of Chats- wood, who was shot down over the English Channel and became a prisoner of war in Germany.
When he escaped into Poland, Miss Kozubowska hid him from the Ger- mans for nearly two years, during which time he also joined the under- ground. It finally got him out to
