In the nisi scene Miss Jiowaith bleaks ciockeiv while In a läge and then faints When she fell in last nights peiformance a broken cup Inflicted seveial deep gashes in hei light thigh She was cairled from the stage by Mi Henty Mollison and anothei membei of the cast but as this -was pait of the play no one in the audience knew that anything was wiong
Iheie was 9. gieat deal of blood fiom the wounds and as Miss .Howaith had to appeal atj-iin in tlnee minutes she stemmed the flow of blood with a. 10U of towelling which hhe hld fiom the audience with a fur
She was in considerable pain but Insisted on playing hei pait so Di E A Eakln plugged the wounds until aftei the pei foimanee when he in"eited seveial stitches
Mios Howaith s pain was Incieased by the fact that she plays a boiiteious pait and had on occasions to inn acioss the stage

but I concentiated on mv lines and this helped me The woist part was when Miss Lina Basquette who played the pait of a doe
toi in the play examined me She did not know that I was hint and I was in agony None of the audience knew what had hap pened and thev laughed when I winced
