BATHURST LIGHTING SERVICE.
When the change-over from the present electric light system to the bulk supply from the Railway Department's plant at Lithgow
takes place within a few weeks, the eight men
employed at the Bathurst power-house will
be dismissed. The council will endeavour « place the men in other departments. The council decided to adopt the 48-hour week in all services, despite the opposition of Alder man Griffin, who declared the 48-Hours Act an infamous measure. It was decided to supplement by a similar amount the grant of £500 from the Government, to be expended on relief work for unemployed.
