ANNANDALE.
ME. I. E. COHEN'S CANDIDATURE.
The candidate addressed two meetings of Annan-1 dale electors last night-one at the corner of Rose I aad Annandale street«, the other at the corner of I Young aad CoUiw rtrootft_Ho w« W»H received by '
large audiences. He expressed his sympathy with the advocates of federation ranged under the bannor of Mr. Barton. Hobehevod that the reform of the Civil Service could havo been carried out in a much better form than it had been, and he gazed askance at tho work of the Civil Service Board. He would inBist upon representation of Civil servants upon the board. Unanimous votes of confidence were coined at both meetings
MR W. H. MAHON Y'S CANDIDATURE.
Mr. Mahony, the retiring member, addressed a largo mooting at the Camperdown Town Hall on Friday evening. Mr. J. II beamer occupied the
chair.
Mr. Mahony, who w as warmly received, spoke at length to a most orderly and attentivo audience. He roviewed the Convention Bill, dwelling upon the clauses requiring amendment, and quoted Mr Barton's rocont utterances upon the subject. What tho speaker termed " tho coalition " was alluded to at some length, and tho records of the present leaders woro contrasted Mr. Mahony said that the object of the party now led by Mr. Barton was not se much federation as to accomplish the downfall of the Reid Administration If thoy succeeded thoy might find it convenient, as m 1801, to postpono fedoration nud deal with the fiscal question, aud it must not bo forgotten that Mr. Lyne, when ho consented to accept Mr. Barton as leader, only a few days ago, declared that he re- served his light in this respect. Mr. Moss moved and Mr. Harman seconded a vote of confidence, which was earned unanimously.
