THE CHALLENGE CUP RULES.
1. The cup is given by the Athletic Sports
Committee for the encouragement and promo
tion of the game of football.
2. The cup shall be played for under the
Victorian Rules of Football.
3. Any dub-winning the cup three consecu
tive times shall become the proprietors.
4. The season for play shall commence on
the 16th of-May, and terminate on the 15th
of September.
6. Matches must be played on the ground
of the holders, and not less than sixteen
players a side. The game shall commence at
two o'clock, p.m. The side failing to be
present at that time shall forfeit the match.
6. The holders, upon receiving at least ten
days' notice, shall play on any Saturday they
are challenged for, unless having a prior engage*
meat with another club.
7. All matches not finished upon the day on
which they are commenced shall be drawn.
8. Any club winning the cup must cany
out the cup engagements of the previous
holders.
9. No club shall be allowed to compete for
the cup a second time during the season until
all other clubB .that wishto play have liftd',
their turn, always provided that the holders of
the cup at the commencement of the season
shall have &fi optidn of playing the last cup
matchof th^eeaeon. .
' 10. The cup shall remain in charge of the
secnetiuy or Captain of the club holding ft, and
jib shall be responsible to the Athletic Spprte:
Committee for same.
11. No player shall be allowed to play with more than two clubs for the cup during the season.
12. The Athletic Sports Committee shall be the sole judges of any dispute that may arise.
