SOUTH ENTRANCE, MORETON BAY.

THE depth of water on the Bar at the South

Passage, with the beacons in line, is now only 13ft. at low water springs. There is rather more water with the beacons just open to the southward, but the channel is too narrow to be depended upon.

NEW LIGHT, LOW ISLANDS, INNER

ROUTE, TORRES STRAITS.

ON and after this date the Temporary Light

at the Low Islands will be replaced by a revolving Dioptric Light of the Third Order. The light, which is placed at an elevation of 65ft. above high water level, nttaina its greatest bril- liancy every minute, aud is visible from a dis-

tance of about fourteen miles.

The Tower is painted white and stands in the

centre of the western Islet.

LEADING LIGHTS, WIDE BAY BAR.

ON and after this date the Leading Lights for

crossing Wide Bay Bar, and entering Great Sandy Island Strait, will be exhibited every night between sunset and sunrise.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

LIGHT, FLAT-TOP ISLAND, PIONEER

RIVER.

ON and after this date, the Temporary Light

on Flat-Top Island-off the entrance to the Pioneer River-will be replaced by a fixed Dioptric Light of the Fourth Order. The light stands at an elevation of 174 feet above high water, and in flue weather is visible from a distance of about 19 miles. It will be seen as a white light between the bearings of S. by W. southerly and N.W. westerly, and as a red light between the bearings of N.W. westerly and N. by E, northerly.

Vessels from the northward, after passing in Island and opening out the white light, will bo clear of the shoal water off Shoal Water Point, the reef off Rocky Islet, and the detached reef between that Islet and Flat-Top Island, while the light is in sight ; while vessels from the southward also will be clear of the reef of Hay Point, while within the south-western edge of the sector of white light,
