DEATH OF MR. R. W. HEATH

The death of Mr. Rodney Wilfred Heath former Davis Cup player, occurred yesterday at a private hospital. He was the second son of Mr F. W. Heath, the official timekeeper of the Victoria Racing Club and the Victoria Amateur Turf Club and was aged 52 years.
Few tennis players in Australia have surpassed the record of Mr. Rodney
Heath. He was singles and doubles champion of Australia, winning the first official singles championship In 1905. He represented Australia in International matches. In 1911 he played in the Davis Cup challenge round In New Zealand
against the United Stales and defeated W.A. Larned by three sets to one. He went to England in 1915, where he joined the Royal Flying Corps. Two years later he was promoted to the rank of major.
After the war Mr. Heath won the covered court doubles championship in Paris and played in the final of the doubles championship at Wimbledon. He also was a member of the defending Aus- tralian Davis cup team in 1920.
