Lacy Jumper

French Sleeves

This lacy jumper looks well made in. soft two-ply wool, and only about 3oz. of wool is needed, with a crochet hook No. OO. Measurements from shoulder to lower edge, 19 1n.; width around below armholes, 361n.

THE FRONT.   Commence at the bottom. Make a   chain 20 in. long. Work 6 rows of treble. Now commence lace pattern.

* Make a loose ch. st. about ½ in., draw loop through about ¼ in., then d.c. into back st. of ch. st. Repeat   from * once. Then d.c. into 4th treble of previous row. Repeat to end of row, always turning with 3 ch. The next and every row is worked the same, only make 1 d.c. into each side of knot. Continue In this way until work measures 9 1n. from the bottom. At this point divide the work into two parts and work over one half only for 3 in.

Now commence to decrease for the armholes. Make one knot less at armhole side each row. Continue in this way until work measures 15 in. from the bottom. Decrease one knot

each row at the other side to form the neck, continuing to decrease at armhole side, work for 2 1n., then work straight to the shoulder until It measures 19in. from bottom. Slope for the shoulder by decreasing 2 knots each row at armhole side. Make the left side to correspond, but work 5 trebles at the edge of the pattern to make the underneath placket on which to sew the buttons.

THE BACK.

Make a chain 16in. in length and work same as front, omitting the open- ing for the placket and neck open- ing. Decrease for armholes in the same way. To make the placket for the right side front, work straight in treble for 61n., commencing with l8 treble. Make the point by decreasing one treble each side every row. Work a row of d.c. around band. Sew band to right side of jumper.

THE COLLAR.

Make a ch. the length around the neck, and work pattern same as front, putting hook into every 3rd ch. on 1st row. The collar should be 31n. wide. Work a row of picots around collar by making 4 ch. d.c. in each

knot.

THE SLEEVES.

Commence at the top with a ch. 2in. long, and make 3 knots at the end of each row Instead of 2. Continue to do this until sleeve is 7in. wide Work picot around edge same as col- lar.

Join shoulder and side seams. Sew sleeves into armholes and sew collar around neck. Finish with three but- tons on the underneath placket.
